Light Yagami is no angel

Divine assistance.

Yeah well, I was just chatting to an angel. We talked about music, the weather, and well, school. He plays the piano, recorder and two types of flutes and participates in 6 different orchestras. His English was a little funny but he was real nice :) Oh yes, he lives in Argentina and is 17 years old.

Hahaha. Nah, I just talked to this dude, who's name is Gabriel. He gave me the piano sheets for Devil May Cry 3 and 4's theme songs. It was nice, talking to him. Cheered me up lots.

*sigh*

I still haven't start listing the stuff I need for college and organize a crate of papers/books I got from the seniors for free last year. (Thanks a bunch, Fatimah!). Speaking of which, I've find out what class I'll be in for next sem:

KIRRA

Heck yeah it's funny aite? My first impression was:
"HUH?! K-kira? Raito? Death Note?! HAHA!"
Yeah well. Then the evil vibe of it settled in, like a bad omen. To top it, Fatimah my dearest housemate which I've maimed with my dagger words a couple of months ago, is in a different class! She's in....uh, Illawong if I'm not mistaken. Well, something that ends with 'wong' anyway. :(

I expected there to be only 1 class for students who selected the Malay Studies combo. I'm gonna have to start over, with, making new acquaintances I mean. I've a nasty feeling I'll be talking to Mr.Prick-in-my-head a lot in the near future. Huhh...maybe he'll look like Raito next year, considering my class name and all. That would be swell. (Do note my heavy sarcasm.)

Meh.

I'll just go listen to 'Wonderwall' by oasis some more. Got my hands on the piano sheets this afternoon. Hehe...

My fake album

This is FAKE.

Haha...yeah. It's my fake album cover with my fake album name on it by my fake band. Played around with photoshop for 3 mins and came up with this. I say it looks pretty snazzy haha.

Wanna try it? Check this out:

Words and letters in my veins

This dude here is READING.

Huh. Apparently I read too much. So what if I do? I know that I've many flaws and hang ups but I thought that my love of books is a good thing. But nooooooooo. It's a complete waste of time. Telling me I read too much is just another way of saying that I'm worthless trash...I should just rot alive and disappear. Not that I don't deserve such a fate since I'm, well, me. Well whatever. I'll read. I'll read if it kills me.

Anyway, tell me, how anybody could EVER read too much. Good thing books aren't a type of narcotics. I'd have aids and would probably be dead by the time I was 14. If I'm not allowed to read I might as well stop breathing. If you know me well enough this shouldn't be surprising at all. I, one of the millions that has aspirations to become an author, reads. A lot.

I can still remember the day I wasn't let to buy a novel because it was SPM. Well, SPM, HAH! to you. I'm done with you. And YOU will never chain me like that again, S.P.M.

I'll read whatever I want, whenever want.

*grabs a book and starts READING*

Cindy

10 days to go. Then it's up in the front lines. For me, that is. Meh.

Anyway, I think I've done enough stuff during this holiday. I shall use the term 'holiday', 'sem break' is just so...un-holiday sounding. 'Holiday' sounds festive! and fun! and longer. Uh, anyway, I manged to read 5 of the 10 books I recently bought. That's decent I suppose.

I miss my dslr. It's still in low yatt getting patched up by the nice shop keeper. It's a pity really or I could've got cool shots of the cosplayers attending Comic Fiesta 2009 last Sunday. And that 'smiley' moon I saw Monday night. *sigh*

Oh yes, my maid's going home this Sunday. My little brother's been randomly started crying for no good reason lately. Yeah, to a 9 year old who spends almost every second of the day (except when he's in school) with the maid...it's probably devastating. Heck, apocalyptic I bet.

I do my best to cheer him up. Which usually involves a sharp comment that goes "Stop crying, princess" or whatever that makes fun of his masculinity ( I'm evil, I'm sorry), slap on the back or a ruffle of his hair, a stupid joke or whatever that works that'll make him smile or laugh a little. Then again when that don't work I'll go for the 'talk'. You know, stuff like "Try put yourself in her shoes, you'd want to go home after 5 years being away, too won't you?" etc.

I don't know. What do nice and kind and good sisters do in these sort of situation anyway. Bake cookies and buy candy? Well I did bought him a Sin Chan toy from A&W and told my lil bro they look exactly alike...

Me: Kalau Adi jadik Sin Chan betul2. Nanti name adi, Sin Di!
Ain: ...a'ah, cam Cindy Crawford.
Me: ...
Adi: ...

Egh, Ain's funny that way haha.

Yeah well, that's that. I'll just continue living my life and make the most of the 10 days I've left to liberate my mind of academic, life-changing, future-depending worries I'm going to need to face later.

AVATAR

Immensely EPIC

The movie that has been pondered for 14 years and costed about half a billion dollars is...I simply can't find a more fitting word than EPIC. Yes, yes I throw that word around a lot but really, this movie is, simply EPIC (if EPIC is EVER simple. The irony of it pleases me :P). Finally, a movie that didn't come from a book. So lush, sleek, and utterly seamless, James Cameron has sealed his name in the books of history. I would go as far as describing the movie as exquisite.

There's one thing that bothers me though. Which is that, there probably shall be people out there in this world who would not, COULD not, appreciate the nuances of this movie. God, it's making me bristle just thinking about this.

AVATAR is a feat of imagination. I can discuss the movie at length but I wouldn't. Actually, I REALLY want to write a review but I fear that I might not do it justice. So I shall resist.

Such a movie is not to be told, it is to be experienced.

If you havent watched it, well, what are you waiting for? The world of Pandora awaits you.

I profess my LOVE to thee...

Tui!

I profess my love to thee,
Dear Gaspard Ulliel.

If Gaspard Ulliel is a vegetable,
People will be vegetarians.

If Gaspard Ulliel is a drug,
People will have aids.

If Gaspard Ulliel is a Star like the Sun,
People will be blind.

Just look at him,
Oh Gaspard Ulliel,
Only he can be 'vile' and spit randomly,
Yet still stay pretty.

Turn Off The Gravity

Finally, I have a definite goal to aim for. Yes, I've found out the TER I need to score in order to secure a conditional offer to study DENTISTRY in University of OTAGO, New Zealand. Here's what I need:

TER96

I've been obsessing over this since I set foot in INTEC. Like eghhh. All I needed to do is fill in the enquiry form at SELSET's official page, here: http://www.selset-newzealand.com/contactus.htm
So simple, should've figured this out earlier. All those hours I spent scouring sites, blogs and what not to

Anyway, got a feedback a couple of hours after I submitted the form. Which is neat! :D Those peeps working in SELSET are doing their job right. Kudos to them. For future references, I shall put up my enquiry and the feedback I received so that if there're noobs like me out there looking for this sometime in the future might find it here :)

Enquiry: I'm an AUSMAT 21 student studying in INTEC, UiTM Shah Alam on JPA's scholarship and is also NEW ZEALAND bound.

JPA offered me to study DENTISTRY in UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO.

I've checked the official site of UNI of OTAGO and found out that DENTISTRY students will have to complete HEALTH SCIENCE first before continuing 2nd yr in Dentistry.

[Yes, everyone going for medical related studies such as dental surgery must go through the Health Science First Year before qualifying into the 2ndyear]

The requirements table at the site stated that the TER requirement for Health Science is TER85. JPA's cut off point is TER90 but I know that the real TER requirement to do DENTISTRY in Otago is higher.

[The University website listed entry requirement is for “the rest of the world” so to speak. This way of entry is that you of into HSFY, you must attain 1syears HSFY results of A or better in order to be qualified to be into the section for entry into the 2nyear. To be selected, you will need to meet the academic (HSFY academic results standard), obtained a good UMAT test results, pass the interview process. If all goes well then you will be offer to continue your studies in the 2nd year of dental surgery.

If you apply through our Centre, we will submit your application around Aug 2010 using your mid term results at INTEC. The University will then do a selection for interview, they will come in to INTEC and interview students who have been selected for interview. If you have been successful in the interview , you will be given a Conditional offer of place to Health Sciences First Year (pending meeting the TER entry requirement to HSFY – currently it is at TER >=96). You will also be give a Conditional Offer into second year of Dental Surgery (pending the stated grades you must obtain – B+ average)]

So, I would like to know exactly what is the TER requirement for a JPA scholar student like me to study dentistry in Otago?

[For JPA cut off, you will need to check with JPA we are not able to comment]

Thank you for lending your time to read this. Hope to get a reply soon :)

SUBMIT: Submit

Yeap. SELSET peeps are good. The stuff in blue is what I wrote, then they replied through e-mail like that. I coloured the replies in red so you can see em' clearly. That just shows they really read my enquiry and clarified things thoroughly instead of just telling me I need TER96 end of story. Haha.

To get TER96 I'm estimating a minimum of a 20, and a combination of 18s and/or 17s for the 5 SACE papers I need to sit for in November. I've done my homework regarding this, asked around for the info. A friend of a friend of mine got TER97.25 with a 20 and a combination of 18s and 17s. So that's what I'll need. Oh, do note that 17+ is an A. 16 is B.

That's that then. TER96, be mine. Turn off the gravity and let me fly...

Colour My Life

Ehehe yeap. I revamped the blog colour theme. Got tired of the brown/orange colour coordinate :S Nananana. Anyway, let's talk music :)

These are my current favourite albums. By favourite means I practically love every single track on them:

Album title: (What's The Story) Morning Glory?
Artist: Oasis

My favourite songs:
1. She's Electric
2. Champagne Supernova
3. Don't Look Back In Anger
4. Wonderwall
5. Supersonic

I got round to listening to this because of Ain. She's been hanging around my place a lot these days thus decided to spread her love for Oasis which she inherited from her older brother. Haha. Really now, older siblings' music tastes actually rubs off onto the younger ones. I confess, 2 weeks ago the only Oasis song I've ever heard is Wonderwall and Stand By Me. Yes, it's disgraceful isn't it? Nevermind that, I now know that Oasis is fantastic.

Album title: The Boy Who Knew Too Much
Artist: MIKA

My favourite songs:
1. I See You
2. Rain
3. Dr. John
4. Blame It On The Girls
5. Blue Eyes

Mika, Mika. How can you put him into words? He is the epitome of the word SPECTACULAR! With the exclamation mark, mind you. SPECTACULAR alone doesn't quite cut it. The exclamation mark is a must. Heck, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is better. One ! is definitely not enough now that I think of it...

Album title: Phrazes For The Young
Artist: Julian Casablancas

My favourite songs:
1. 4 Chords Of The Apocalypse
2. Left Right In The Dark
3. River Of Brake Lights
4. Glass

The resurrection of Jules in the form of this album is ... *sigh* Simply perfect. Jules, seeming to not have aged in the past 10 years finally came up with something. Though it bothers me that The Strokes haven't yet descend back to us earthlings from their golden throne of eternally legendary awesomeness :'(

So there you have it. My top 3 current fav albums~ What IS life without music ey? A pretty painting without colours I'd say. :S

P.S: Speaking of Jules...which reminds me of Adila. Need to upload her birthday pics on flickr :D Well, here, have one...

Fake Fish

The LUDOVICIAN: A Conceptual Shark.

For the first time in my life, I finished reading a spectacularly awesome book and is currently absolutely PISSED the hell out of my mind. Like AGHHHHHHHHHH. What the eff is that book all about? Freaking FAKE fish if you ask me.
Yeah. F A K E F I S H.

Well, not exactly. Still, it gets to me that I haven't figured the damned book out. I feel like tossing it on the stove and set it on fire. Like yeah, I'm pissed.

I was already befuddled by the ending and stuff and then...:

Apparently, there're UN-chapters. NEGATIVES. It's the Rorschach tests thing. Heck, the title itself is a play on it. I'll explain:

THE RAW SHARK TEXTS
THE ROR SCHACH TESTS

Epicly frustrating, richly imaginative, absurdly original, you, Steven Hall, wrote a book I wish I wrote. F**k you.

P.S: I shall hunt for those UNchapters. RAWRRR.

Baby Steps

Can you see the knavery in his eyes? Heh.

Saw episode 9 of HOUSE MD Season 6 titled charmingly so, "Wilson". It's a special episode because it's Wilson centric instead of the usual House centric.

I love every picosecond of it.

Devil in disguise, he is

P.S: The title? Watch it and you know what I mean :) *goes of to watch the episode again*

It's A Small Word

The Prick in my head

My world is small. It is. I think I need new people, but I don't want any, not really and that's the problem.

Or is it really? A problem, I mean. If I make it 'not' a problem, it'll go away since it's not a global scale crisis such as famine or poverty. I'm complicating something that is simple, heck, effortless to some. I should just reach out shouldn't I? To Socialize. That accursed act of mingling with people, on purpose. But that's kinda difficult when you don't really want to.

See? I'm walking in circles. It all goes back to me being an anti-social freak. I reassure myself. 'It's okay' says the stunted 'he' that is the voice in my head. No, I'm not mental. Please, everybody talks to themselves. And yes, my conscience is a dude who is an extremely disagreeable, stubborn, confused, greedy and lazy prick. Oh, the only positive attribute he has is that, sometimes he materialize in the spitting image of Keanu Reeves. ...Okay, maybe, like the rest of you people out there, I AM semi-mental. Jeez.

My brother says it's okay too. He said I shouldn't have to make myself want to 'mingle', that I should just be nice to people, especially my parents. And I love him for that :)

Still, when you live in a small world, the inhabitants of your kingdom have their own lives. They're my universe when I'm not theirs. It gets cold and lonely at times.

Me and my contradictions. Which I know is normal. Which I know everybody has. There he goes again. That disagreeable prick in my head. He's telling me to "shut up and grow up", when he has not change a bit since we were 13.

The Prick: You should get that Assassin's Creed game. I need it.
...just shut up, prick.

My Loot

I, have been keeping myself busy. Well, 'busy' as in, I've been doing enough stuff so as to not let my brain cells rot due to sheer boredom. Yeap. I hang out with friends and cousins, bought some books, read them, play the piano alot, watch movies, drive around :) The usual. Just, living.

Speaking of books, this is my loot. From the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale in Amcorp Mall. Went twice. With Mai mai & Adi then with Mom and auntie on the last day because all the books go at RM5 on the last day hehe.

My Loot:

1. Bright Shiny Morning (James Frey) - RM8

2. The Gone-Away World (Nick Harkaway) - RM8

3. Two Little Boys (Duncan Sarkies) - RM8

4. Penguins Stopped Play (Harry Thompson) - RM8

5. Fairyland (Paul J. McAuley) - RM5

6. Silverhorse (Lene Kaaberbol) - RM 5

7. The Raw Shark Texts (Steven Hall) - RM5

TOTAL = RM47.00

Of the 7 books, I'm done with Two Little Boys by Duncan Sarkies which I picked up from the 'Children's Section'. Clearly, the staff judged the book by its cover and deemed it to be a Kid's books. That book is ANYTHING, BUT, suitable for kids. Uhuh. Yeah. I'll describe it in four words: CRASS, TWISTED, PSYCHOTIC, FUNNY. It's funny alright, in a dark, obscene (plenty of this =_= 'F' word all over the space) kind of way. I've never really liked dark humour but I get the stuff in Two Little Boys. Duncan Sarkies the author, is definitely mental I think :-/ But still, I shall keep an eye on his future books.

Two Little Boys...gosh, I can't put the plot into words. Egh, anyway, it's about uh, two guys, a dead Norwegian backpaker, a Maori dude, an absolutely SCREWED up friendship, and New Zealand. Haha yeah. The story is set in New Zealand. Specifically in Otago, Dunedin in NZ. Which is also EXACTLY the place I'm heading to early 2011 (University Of Otago, insya'Allah). So, it creeped me out A LOT the book. EGhhh.

Enough of that.

I've also read a bit of Bright Shiny Morning by James Frey. It's like...well, so far, I deem it a books without a beginning or an ending (perhaps). Just the relentless drumbeat of multiple lives of the people in metropolitan L.A. Their, hopes, dreams & fears. It's like a painting in words. This book is also thick as heck, so I'll treat it like an old friend. You know, the kind of book you can read, then just leave it a while. Once you start reading it again, the story can still be grasped, the kind of book that greets you with open arms. No complex, twisty yada yada plot.

At the moment though, I'm reading The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall. So far, I find it very intersting indeed. Quoting Mark Haddon (He wrote 'The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time'), "Very entertaining. The bastard love-child of The Matrix, Jaws and The Da Vinci Code." Get the picture? Haha. Oh yea, this book will be turned into a Motion Picture soon, I think. Well, it says so on the last page. Just noticed that. :-/

Hm, I feel like mentioning this. You know, when I read a particular book that I kinda can relate to, or I think is awesome, I'd write a letter to the author. Yes, I do. And I never post it or e-mail it or whatever. Lame huh? I don't know. Somehow, by the time I'm done writing what's on my mind, they end up being, kinda personal. *sigh*

Anyway, what else?

Nyee, I don't know. Life is pleasant in general. I'm happy :) and I'd like to keep thoughts of 4th of January 2010 far far away from my mind. Yeah, I've still got 5 weeks of holiday and I can already feel the blues skirting at the edges of my mind. It's annoying.

One more thing, my little brother Adi got circumcised today haha. He's a real 'boy' now.
