Where My Mind Lies.

It wasn't a particularly striking day, just an ordinary Wednesday. Same old, morning breeze and tardy school bus. The clouds were different though that morning. Not that clouds are ever the same, but it had a tinge of washed colours in it.

With the salmon sky above my head I made my way to class. Counting the pavements as I stride, careful to skip every other tile which results in a pace commendable of a marching soldier. The crunching sound of trampled brown leaves added an extra clarity to the crisp morning. The morning I lost my mind.

Class proceeded as usual, with me paying attention only in the first 30 minutes and spending the remaining hour and a half roaming worlds within me. I considered myself a practical person with a penchant for the whimsical and fantastical only when it suits me. In other words, I was terribly volatile albeit in a silent manner. I would implode every now and then but I never, ever, concerned others. Alas, I was not a butterfly who flits around and mingle.

Miscellaneous details aside, it was on the way back that I lost my mind. The sun was setting (the bus was always tardy), like any other sunsets, the sky was lit with a brilliance that was always surreal. I stared at a cloud that seemed to retreat with the evening shadows and then, there was nothing left. A complete nothingness welled in me and I felt as if a great hand had squashed me flat. Everything that was me, was no more.

With an empty head I made my way to my room and waited for my mind to return. Perhaps it was not such a bad thing, to lose one's mind to such a beautiful phenomena such as a sunset. Don't you think? Thus, from then on, I would look at the clouds knowing my mind was among them. Free and unrestrained. I would always smile and wink at my mind, lost in the clouds.

Sunburnt

I've a math test next Monday. Naturally it puts me on edge. I haven't started studying, YET. Not really anyway. I want to and I have, a little. Just that I can't seem to focus properly. Egh.

I'm all muddled up.

That aside, I'm still writing. I'm quite determined this time. I suppose when your future seems to always hang by a thread its easier to focus on abstract things. Keeps your mind off of things. I'm prone to be anxious, writing helps.

Oh, Adi went to the pool today. Hahaha...he was supposed to start swimming classes tomorrow or something. That is, before today when he went swimming (not a class just regular swimming) and discovered that he turned a shade darker and totally freaked out.

Adi: Adi hitam ke?! Mama, adi tak nak swimming dah la!

Total princess ain't he? haha. He got real mad when I made fun of him a little. I won't anymore though ehe =.=' it's not good for his confidence. I've realised that. I should stop my sadistic ways, he's growing up now.

okay, HAHA. This happended a few secs ago.

Me: Betul ke adi tak nak swimming? Kak yana rase adi dah jadik putih balik.
Adi: Ye la adi swimming balik. Bile nak pergi?

See? Told you I'd stop being sadistic. Though it's a total lie that he's back to his normal skin tone after a few hours. Pffftt.

Paris

Yet again, another addition to my vault of 'Novels to be'. I've lost count of the rubbish I intend to be my 'first' novel ever. All of them lasted only several chapters ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 words. They're all different, has nothing in common with each other since I write them all in various state of moods.

This particular latest addition is as titled in the previous post, a 9 part tragedy. Haha. And what do I know about tragedies? Absolutely nothing really besides the assumptions I've made of how they might be like, or how they're supposed to be like. Still, I insist that there be 9 parts to it. Reason's undisclosed aside, I stick to this piece (like them yellow sticky notes) with 'HOPE' that in a year or two it'll turn into something discernible as reading material.

When I write it's neat how my world in-folds into another's that is the main character's. His or her's concern being mine, his or her's view being mine, all him or her at the same time all me.

So I introduce to you, Paris. Not hilton mind you. Just, Paris and Paris's a dude.

Adieu for now.

P.S: He's not French btw.

A Tragedy In Nine Parts

KAMIKAZE WRITER

1st Of November!!!
The National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) STARTS today!

I've ONLY discovered the existence of NaNoWriMo just now through a facebook wall post by Tim. AM EXCITED AS HECK. Oh yeah even though it has 'National' in the campaign title, it is actually an international thing. Just imagine, world over, people will write an average of 1,666 words per day. AGhhhhh! This is not working. I am trying to explain this but as you can see, AM FAILINg miserably. Too freaking excited to think, so, I'm going to copy paste the description. HAH.

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.

Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.

As you spend November writing, you can draw comfort from the fact that, all around the world, other National Novel Writing Month participants are going through the same joys and sorrows of producing the Great Frantic Novel. Wrimos meet throughout the month to offer encouragement, commiseration, and—when the thing is done—the kind of raucous celebrations that tend to frighten animals and small children.

In 2008, we had over 120,000 participants. More than 20,000 of them crossed the 50k finish line by the midnight deadline, entering into the annals of NaNoWriMo superstardom forever. They started the month as auto mechanics, out-of-work actors, and middle school English teachers. They walked away novelists.

So, to recap:

What: Writing one 50,000-word novel from scratch in a month's time.

Who: You! We can't do this unless we have some other people trying it as well. Let's write laughably awful yet lengthy prose together.

Why: The reasons are endless! To actively participate in one of our era's most enchanting art forms! To write without having to obsess over quality. To be able to make obscure references to passages from our novels at parties. To be able to mock real novelists who dawdle on and on, taking far longer than 30 days to produce their work.

When: You can sign up anytime to add your name to the roster and browse the forums. Writing begins November 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach the 50,000-word mark by November 30 at midnight. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins.

Done reading? Are you spazzing? If you are, then we're soulmates. If you're not, go eat your own hand or something. Hmph. THIS IS EPIC. LIKE AGHHHHH! To write with ABSOLUTE abandon. Just imagine how liberating that is. This is something I swear I WILL do every year from now on. Oh yes, not to forget this:

"In October 2008, the self-publishing company CreateSpace teamed up with NaNoWriMo to begin offering winners a single free, paperback proof copy of their manuscripts, with the option to sell them on Amazon.com"

Told you this is of EPIC proportions. My blood is boiling, my hands are twitching, my head is spinning, muse is out of control, what are you people waiting for? LET'S GET CRACKING!
